Screen colour test

Check colour capability and visible colour problems.

Pixy checks browser-reported colour capability, then shows full-screen colour and grey panels to help you inspect visible colour shifts and banding.

Gamut signal

Pixy checks browser media queries for sRGB, P3, or Rec. 2020 colour gamut capability where available.

Colour depth

The browser exposes colour depth, which Pixy uses as one signal for the display score and visual work suitability.

Visible panels

RGB, grey, gradient, and colour sweep panels help you spot tint shifts, banding, posterisation, and uneven transitions.

Colour-critical work still needs calibration

Pixy can tell whether the browser sees wide gamut or HDR capability. It cannot certify accuracy, brightness, contrast ratio, or calibration.

Use this checklist while Pixy runs

  1. Check solid RGB panels for stuck sub-pixels and colour tint.
  2. Watch grey panels for dirty-screen effect and uneven coating.
  3. Use gradients to look for banding or abrupt tone jumps.
  4. Compare Safari, Chrome, and Firefox if colour support looks odd.
  5. Use a hardware calibrator for paid colour work.

Questions people ask

Can Pixy measure colour accuracy?

No. Accuracy requires a measuring device. Pixy reports browser capability and shows visual inspection patterns.

Why does one browser show different colour support?

Browser colour management and operating system settings can differ.

Is P3 better than sRGB?

P3 covers more colours than sRGB, but accuracy and calibration still matter.
